If you have no dial tone or other problem present at the Test Socket, call your Service Provider. This will be your responsibility to rectify. Proof that the telephone line is OK at the BT Test Socket means you have identified an internal fault. Importantly the removable front plate gives you a way of isolating your own wiring, should there be a fault present. It’s essential to be able to disconnect your extensions from the main incoming line. Thereafter any faults are down to you (and chargeable should you want Openreach to fix it).
